Donations to our emergency campaign made a difference in the lives of Jalapans. With your support, we provided ceramic filters to 425 households in four rural communities to purify water that had become contaminated in the wake of the hurricanes. We delivered agricultural supplies to an additional 100 smallholder farming families, who had lost most or all of their crop to the hurricanes. Your donations also funded food packets for a group of elders who are struggling in these difficult times. Upgrades to the water systems in El Trapiche and Pasmata are ongoing, as the communities have encountered setbacks tied to electricity access and high demand for engineers with the necessary technical expertise. However, families in those two communities received ceramic filters that are providing clean water as we move forward overcoming the challenges to implementing a longer term solution. We will provide updates here as those projects progress.
