Solar Women of Nicaragua

Solar Women of Nicaragua (FUPROSOMUNIC in Spanish) is a Nicaraguan non-profit that works under the umbrella of FCP in the U.S. Through promoting the use of solar ovens and wood-conserving stoves, solar food dryers and dehydrators, use of the SODIS water purification method, and small-scale electrification of family homes with solar panels, this organization is able to support better quality of life for Nicaraguan women and their families while also protecting the natural environment. In addition to environmental and household benefits, these solar-powered tools serve as a way for these women to sell products such as dried fruits and teas.
